Up next on Christian Parallels in Nursery Rhymes is Humpty Dumpty. Now before we begin, let’s all say the nursery rhyme together… Ok, maybe not… that’s the teacher in me coming out… But here is the rhyme for those of you who were on board and still reading.

Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall,
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall.
All the king’s horses and all the king’s men
Couldn’t put Humpty together again.

As you were reading this, did you picture an egg on wall bordering a Kingdom?

I sure did.

But interesting enough, the rhyme never mentions Humpty Dumpty being an egg.

So, put yourself on that wall.

On one side you have a Kingdom. What’s on the other side?

Good question.

What if that wall separated God’s Kingdom from the world’s kingdom?

Which way would you land?

“All the king’s horses and all the king’s men, couldn’t put Humpty together again…”

Do you know why?

Only God can take your brokenness and make you whole. Only God can turn a mess into a message.

The King’s horses and men are there to help, to plant sends, and encourage you along the way. But God alone makes the seed grow.

Don’ sit on a wall with your faith. Take a side. Stand on that side. Become one of the King’s horses and men and help put those who fall back together again. But remember- you can’t do it alone. You were never supposed to.

I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow. So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. The one who plants and the one who waters have one purpose, and they will each be rewarded according to their own labor. For we are co-workers in God’s service; you are God’s field, God’s building.” 1 Corinthians 3: 6-9
