So, we have a new driver in our house… and I have learned that I am really glad my husband is good at teaching and instruction… because you don’t realize all the things a new driver doesn’t know until they get behind a wheel.
For example, keep your eyes on where you want to go. Not where you’ve been. Not the GPS. Not the billboard. Or any other distraction. Keep your eyes focused on where you want the wheel to steer you.
And when bumps, and curves, and turns happen, keep your eyes focused on where you want the car to go.
Ya’ll. It might sound basic, but this is how we should be living life as well. What’s your goal? Where do you want to be? Keep your eyes on that!
Christians, this means we should keep our eyes focused on where we want to go. Our desire is to be more like Jesus and let His light shine through us! Thus, we must keep our eyes on Jesus. The world is going to throw us every distraction it can. And so many times, we change our focus when those distractions pop up… on our phones… on our schedules… with those people…
But Jesus is the author and perfecter of our faith. He already won the battle over sin. He has already made the way for you to be right with God through his death on the cross. He sent you His Holy Spirit to lead, guide, convict, and strengthen you. As you keep your eyes on Jesus, your focus remains on Him, and the distractions minimize as we grow more and more like Him each day!
Let us all fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith.
