Today on the blog is Three Blind Mice. I already know what you’re thinking- Renee, why? Well, rest assured, I thought the exact same thing. Why was this placed on my heart? Then I read the Nursery Rhyme.

Three blind mice. Three blind mice.
See how they run. See how they run.
They all ran after the farmer’s wife,
Who cut off their tails with a carving knife,
Did you ever see such a sight in your life,
As three blind mice?

Seriously what a horrible rhyme! How did this ever become famous… Poor mice.

Let’s look at the obvious- we have three blind, and apparently not very smart, mice. The farmer’s wife has cut off their tails, yet they are running after her!?!

These mice are first blind. They cannot see. They need someone to show them the way.

But now, their tails have been cut off. They’ve lost their balance too. They need someone to hold them up as well.

They need some Jesus!

They can’t see. They have no balance, yet the run after the person who invoked pain and misery on them.

Why would you run after the trouble? Why would you run to the very person who hurt you? It seems silly when we look at it with mice… but what if we changed the image to mankind… We do the same thing. When we are sad or mad, we turn to food, sex, drugs, drinking, friends, partying, gambling, television drama… then when that doesn’t satisfy, we dive further into it. More cake. More drama. More partying. But in the end, we are just blind mice without tails. There’s no rest. There’s no peace. There’s no comfort.

Why wouldn’t you run to the one who could heal you? Probably because they don’t know Him. They need someone to show them the way. As long as they are chasing the problem, they will never find peace.

Have you ever been in a position like these mice?  The world just keeps throwing more and more problems at you and you feel blind and off balance.

Where did you run to?

Who helped you through the times of trouble? Who have you helped?

Do you run after the trouble or to the Lord?

Are you a sight like the Blind Mice or are you living in the Light like you have been Saved?
