You know your son has three older sisters when he is happily belting out the words, “Let it Go…” or “Into the UNKOWN!” Picture it with me: My three girls and their 2-year-old brother riding in the back seats of my van. They all have their hands outstretched, perfect highs and lows. You would think they were putting on the karaoke show of their lives…

But something about those lyrics, Into the Unknown, really rocked me yesterday as I heard them singing.

“There’s a thousand reasons
I should go about my day
And ignore your whispers
Which I wish would go away…”

WOW! How much does this sound like me as I am following God? Please God just let me go about my day. Can I please just ignore your whispers? I really don’t want to step out of my comfort zone. Things are just fine as they are…

Sometimes following God is a little bit like walking into the unknown.

I wonder if that is how Abraham felt when God called him to go into a land that He will show him.

I bet that’s how Moses felt as he led the Israelites out of Egypt!

Is this how Ruth felt when she chose to walk into the unknown with Naomi?

The Bible is filled with flawed characters who were chosen by God to walk with Him. They doubted. They made mistakes. But all of them followed and were blessed because they did.

If you hear His voice- follow Him. Embrace the unknown!

It’s a little scary.

It’s a little exciting.

It’s trusting and watching God write a story you could have never written yourself. It’s about being willing to align your will with His will and work with Him to accomplish that will.

However, unlike Elsa, we can rest assured that the one we are following is Someone out there who loves us.

He is out there.

He does know you.

He can hear you.

He will show you.

But we have to meet Him in the unknown. We cannot just sit by and ignore the whisper, the prompting.

Go ahead. Go into the unknown walking hand in hand with the Lord.

“For we walk by faith, not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7).”
