Ever notice how King Triton slightly resembles Jesus. No, no, not the controlling father who won’t let his daughter go to the surface. (Though as a parent I see he had good reason to make that rule.) How about the father who takes His daughter’s punishment that she deserves.

In the Little Mermaid, Ariel is longing to be part of the world in which the humans live… we all know how this story goes, so let’s just skip to the end.

Ariel made a deal with the Sea-Witch, after three days she did not follow through with her end of the deal, and was now forced to become one of Ursula’s minions. However, her father, King Triton, endlessly searched for his lost daughter. When he learned of situation, the King agreed to take her place freeing his daughter.

We’ve all sinned and fallen short. We, too, have made deals with our sin nature that we wish we could erase. We’ve all fallen into the traps of the enemy. We all deserve the punishment.  But our King, God, sent His One and Only Son to take our place. He died on the cross, so we could be free from the punishment of our sins by simply accepting the free gift of Salvation from Christ. But it doesn’t end there. Jesus sent His Spirit to guide us, lead us, convict us, and transform us into the image of Christ. God is endlessly pursuing you. He wants a relationship with you!

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 6:23).”
