Every time I teach in Kids’ Ministry I think, “Man that’s good!” So, I gotta share.
Today’s lesson ended with James 1:22, “Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourself. Do what it says.”
We played a game of Simon Says. “Simon says put your hands up. Simon says put your hands down. Hands up… OOOOOO… you’re out.” We did these a few times. No one really had to sit out (its kids’ ministry), but I made sure to emphasize the “You’re out!”
Then I told them that growing with God is not like Simon Says where when you mess up, you are out. It’s more like Follow the Leader. Then we played Follow the Leader. They watched what I did and then did it too.
You could see the smiles on their faces as they realized how much different the two games were.
Growing in faith is following the leader, God. Watch and follow. Sometimes we need to watch others who are following God because they can help us follow Him better.
In life, we are going to mess up, but that does not mean we are out. In fact, God never called us to play that game. He called us to follow Him. But we’re still following God.
Follow Him!
Follow the Leader!
Help others follow Him too!
