We all love a happily ever after story. Look at Cinderella. The poor girl lost her parents and ends up serving her stepmother and stepsisters like a slave. The movie even says they abused her. However, she had a hope that could not be explained, despite that abuse. Then, by the help of fairy Godmother, she gets a chance to go to the ball, meet the prince, fall in love, and change the course of her life.
Could you imagine watching Cinderella and seeing her choose to go back to live with her evil stepmother and stepsisters? That’s crazy! Why would someone want to leave a life of freedom and royalty to go back to slavery and abuse?
However, that is exactly what our sin nature tricks us into doing. We run back to the drama… gossip.. chasing romantic love… addiction… Our sin nature temps us into thinking the slavery of sin will satisfy. But it is only temporary. There is only one thing that can satisfy that longing in your heart- Jesus!
Upon acceptance of Christ, we have a new life, a new creation has come. Yet, we are easily led astray and backslide into the traps of sin. The good news- all you have to do is return to Him! Repent. And then start walking with Him again, or maybe for the first time. He is there. He is waiting on you to stop running back to slavery of sin and start running to Him!
2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.”
